When is the right time to aerate stored grain? How can you tell when it’s starting to spoil? These are everyday questions at a grain storage facility, and the answers can affect the quality of the feed produced later.
In his interview with Negashteh Grain Magazine, our General Sales Manager, Aresh Amir, sees the silo as the first step in feed production. He gives a practical example. At a feed mill that processes 100,000 tonnes of raw materials a year, cutting losses by just one percentage point means saving 1,000 tonnes.
Storage capacity also gives feed producers more flexibility to buy raw materials when prices are favourable. As Aresh explains, this flexibility, together with lower losses, can help a well-designed facility pay for itself within three to five years.
The conversation also takes us to Bandar Imam Khomeini Port in Iran, where we installed 48 silos for soybean storage. Aresh discusses how local climate shapes the design of a storage facility and how artificial intelligence could help operators identify the risk of spoilage before there are visible signs.
